International Trusted Traveler Program Now Available at McCarran International Airport
U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced the expansion of Global Entry to McCarran International Airport.

This announcement came at a news conference held by CBP Los Angeles Port Director Carlos C. Martel at the international arrival terminal at McCarran International Airport. Participating officials included CBP McCarran Port Director, Debbie Sanders and McCarran International Airport Deputy Director of Aviation Rosemary A. Vassiliadis.

Global Entry is an automated inspection system that allows registered travelers who have been pre-screened and approved to be processed through an expedited process. Participants enter the United States by utilizing automated kiosks located at Federal International Service areas. Participation in the Global Entry pilot program is voluntary. A non-refundable application fee of $100 will be charged to each applicant.

Currently, Global Entry is only open to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. “CBP is pleased to be able to provide this program that allows low-risk international air travelers a swift return to their homeland,” said Carlos C. Martel.

At the kiosk, Global Entry members will activate the system by inserting their U.S. passport or lawful permanent resident card into a document reader. The screen on the kiosk will direct travelers to provide digital fingerprints and will compare that biometric data with the fingerprints on file. Travelers will also be prompted to answer declaration related questions on the kiosk’s touch-screen. A transaction receipt will be issued upon completion, which must be presented to CBP officers prior to leaving the inspection area.

The Global Entry pilot program began June 6, 2008 at JFK, George Bush Intercontinental in Houston and Washington Dulles International airports. The program has now been extended and is available in twenty international airports.
